About us |
| We started our shop dealing in Ukiyo-e prints about 35 years ago | ||
| on Omotesando Ave. near Harajuku Station. | ||
| This has always been our favorite location with the fresh green | ||
| leaves of zelkova trees in spring and with their color turning to | ||
| red and gold in autumn. | ||
| At about its lowest point this Avenue crosses a river called the | ||
| Onden River, which used to flood this area frequently during ty- | ||
| phoon seasons and is now totally covered. |
| "View from a mill at Onden" by Hokusai from the series "Thirty- | ||
| six Views of Mt.Fuji" was an illustration of this area published | ||
| about 165 years ago. | ||
| Hiroshige depicted the same area in "The Onden Shrine" from the | ||
| series "The Pictorial Souvenir of Edo" about 145 years ago. | ||
| Although the name of the location was changed from Onden to | ||
| Jingumae, the river flowing unnoticed remains to be called the | ||
| Onden River. |
